New Group’s at St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s has reached a detailed, formal agreement with Carson City Brown Baggers to provide meeting space in the Parish Hall Mondays through Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and in the Rectory on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The number of people served will usually be about 30 and 10 on Saturdays. Special occasions may serve up to 50 people. Alternative arrangements will be made to accommodate St. Peter’s special events such as the Holiday Bazaar, upon notification of that event to the Brown Baggers. St. Peter’s staff and parishioners may use the bathrooms and pass through the Parish Hall during these meeting times as necessary.

For further information or a need to communicate with the Brown Baggers, please contact Allison Joffee or Joy McClain of our parish.

Young Adult Festival at General Convention

If your priest asked if you would like to attend the Young Adult Festival being held during the 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, your answer would be what?

The theme for the festival was “Come” – come gather, come listen, come speak, come pray, etc. Attending the festival allowed us an introductory glance at the legislative process of the church while being grounded in worship and great encouragement of self-care. It also gave us ample opportunities to meet and network with other young persons from around the world.

“We are not only the future of the church, but we are also here in this present moment.” Young adults are a part of the Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement. Here and Now.

“Lost Carson City”

Mr. Peter Mires, who has a Ph.D. in historical geography, has recently published his third book, Lost Carson City. Since coming out West in 1990, Peter has been fascinated with Carson City and neighboring Lake Tahoe.

The gold and silver riches of the nearby Comstock Lode left a legacy that includes the Carson City Mint and the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Peter takes us on a journey of in-depth appreciation of our home town.

He will be selling and signing Lost Carson City on Sunday August 5th before and after our special 150th Celebration at the 10 a.m. service. Don’t miss this opportunity to purchase your own signed copy.

Engraved Commemorative Pavers

In conjunction with the construction of St. Peter’s Meditation Labyrinth, the church is offering commemorative engraved pavers to be installed in the apron around the labyrinth and as a commemorative walkway extending from the front steps of the church to the labyrinth. The pavers are intended as signs of celebration, above and beyond a “memorial.”
Click here Order Form for all details included in a copy of the Paver Order Form.
The 2018 installation date is anticipated for late summer, upon completion of the Meditation Labyrinth. The deadline for placing your paid order(s) is August 1st. Please complete one order form for each engraved paver ordered. Please make you check payable to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, memo line “Engraved Paver(s).” Mail your order form(s) and check to St. Peter’s or submit in the offering plate.
For questions, please contact: Hallie Murphy, Allison Joffee, Gayle Bowers, Susan Newcomb, or Suzie McCurdy.

St Peter’s 150th Celebration

We begin the celebration of the 150th anniversary of St Peter’s on Sunday August 12, with a liturgy from the 1792 Book of Common Prayer at the 10am service.  Come dressed in period costume if you are able.  It will be very different, very long, and, hopefully, a memorable celebration of our roots.
