Whether it is the Apocalypse or the Second Coming:

  1. Do NOT listen to the fear mongers
  2. Certainty do NOT follow them
  3. DO Feel what you feel
  4. DO Be Kind, to yourself, to the people around you,
and those who opinion may differ from yours.

“Lord, your saints come from every nation and every tribe. Such is the beauty of your kingdom, where every race and people are honored and recognized as being made in your image. “Connected” by Hans Kylberg on Flickr

Rejecting the worthy/worthless question as the wrong question; Father Jeff wades into the connection between our tradition and our decision to vote by asking that we ask ourselves about those who would lead us:

The Difference

Ballerina on Wall Street Bull (from Occupy Wall Street)We all know the way the world works. Jesus describes it in Luke 16:1-8a (Father Jeff recommends we end the reading at the semi-colon; after the first half of verse 8.)  Eduardo Galeano tells of how today’s world works in a passage from his book Children of the Days shared in the sermon by Father Jeff. Weaving these stories with our story, Father Jeff points out that:

“…[R]ight now, today, regardless of what Wall Street does, regardless of what the big wigs decided to do. We can live, you and me, in the light of the agenda of God…you and me, we, can make a difference.”

Give me an account of your management, because you cannot be my manager any longer.” Then the manager said to himself, “What will I do, now that my master is taking the position away from me?….
